NYC Photos

went into New York two weeks ago for aptitude testing and in between wandered around the city, saw a show with my family and tooks tons of pictures. These are just some of my favorites:

Song Cravings

Shark in the Water by V.V. Brown-Pop sensation V.V. Brown might have similarities in dress to Lady Gaga occasionally, but in vocals and even music style, they have a host of differences. The lyrics are alittle eclectic, but a lot of songs don't make sense half the time anyhow and this one is coupled with strong vocals and a laidback addicting beat.

Follow Me Down by 3Oh!3 ft. Neon Hitch-Most addicting song off of the Almost Alice soundtrack, I've had it on repeat on my ipod for the last month and I pull it out whenever I need something unique and fun to listen to or a pump-up song.

King of Anything by Sara Barellis-One of my favorite singers, I can't wait until her new album is released sept. 7th and until then I've been singing along with the catchy new single at full volume. She has a gorgeous voice and the new music video accompanying this song is extremely artistic.

Super excited for both Taylor Swift's,Sara's and many other artists's albums coming out soon! There nothing better then fresh new music  and cute new clothes to start off the school year.

Colors of Fall's Nails

For this season of change, try experimenting with some fresh, sophisticated colors to shake up the normal french or pink manicure.
Jade Green- This color will pop against your sunkissed skin  from the summer and  stands out against the sea of average nails. To best pull of this unconventional color, keep your nails in a slightly elongated fashion with rounded-square tips. It's a trendy and sophisticated color for anyone and will set you ahead in the new year.
Try:OPI Nail Laquer in Jade Is The New Black
Heather Purple-complimentary to any skintone and wardrobe, this muted tone keeps it fresh and pretty while updating your style with a mod look. It's sure to be among the top colors this season as its versitile and simply gorgeous. It looks best in almost any shape or length, but don't blunt it down into square tips, keep them slightly rounded for a chic, plolished look.
Try: OPI for Sephora in Metro Chic & Iris I Was Thinner, Chanel Les Vernis Laquer in Lilac Sky
Metallic Black- An edgy and mod color, this will look best in the late fall and winter when the weather gets cooler and sweaters start to come out. Perfect for a party or just to add a sleek edge to a day look, pick a shade between a charcoal grey and midnight black with a shimmery look. For alternate choices, try a tinted black shade with a hint of purple, blue or green.
Try: Orly Nail Lacquer in Iron Butterfly, Sally Hansen complete salon manicure in Black Platinum, Sonia Kashuk Nail Color in Starry Night, OPI for Sephora in Never Enough Shoes
Burnt Orange- A perfect transition color into fall, a burnt orange in the right shade will add a beachy feel to your look. It looks better with a shorter nail cut and paired with neutral or muted colors. As the seasoson gets colder, warm it up with a toasty cocoa color.
Try: China Glaze nail laquer in Sun Worshipper,Chanel Les Vernis Laquer in Orange Fizz
Royal Blue- Make a bold statement with a bright, matte blue that shakes up your look. It's a unique color that can be worn with squared or rounded off nails in any length. Perfect for a day or night look, this color is fun to wear anytime
Gold-Glam it up with a 24 karat sheen on your nails. There are many ways to wear it, with a chunky glitter top coat or simply with a shimmery satin color. It looks best on enlongated nails with rounded tips but those more daring will find it looks just as well squared off.
Try: OPI for Sephora in Only Gold For Me top coat, Chanel Les Vernis in Illusion D'or

For all those francophiles out there, or just those who were wondering- Chanel and Lancome have a lot of  french names for thier makeup. In this post, Illusion D'or means illusion of gold, and might correlate to mean "fools gold"

Online Window shopping

One of the many past time my friends and I find ourselves doing when we go into town is window shopping. After all, who can help it? Theres this neat vintage store and a host of cute boutiques so naturally we have to stop by, gaze longingly or perhaps try stuff on, sigh and move on, repeat. Its a fun way to satisfy that fashion craving without spending money, but it can also get quite depressing at times, spying a super cute top only to find that its well over our budget. So whether we're masochists or just plain bored, its a interesting way to pass the time, actually hunting for something or just trying on the most rediculous thing on in the store. We've gotten some priceless photo ops out of it.

Another type of window shopping,a primarily solitary activity, in browsing stores online. I do it often to get some fashion ideas or plan what I'm going to buy at the mall in advance. Some of my favorite ones to browse include Forever 21,urban outfitters and Lulus, an exclusively online store. If I'm debating  buying makeup or not, I take a look at sephora. I find it a more productive way of procrastinating then stalking people on facebook. Sometimes, its jsut a waste of time, but its oftena valuable tool in helping me plan out purchases or inspiration to rework my current wardrobe. It also gives me inspiration to blog! Ebay auctions or online vintage places can be a way to snag deals on designer stuff or quirky finds. A tricky thing about actually shopping online is that unless your sure of the size or style already, you might hate it in person. Oh, and shipping as well. Most websites however offer free shipping over a certain amount, but return shipping can be costly. Still, nothing beats wandering around my favorite stores and offline shopping is still the best reason to go to the mall.

Be-Dazzled:Jewled Flats

While I'm not much of heels girl myself (running+tight achilles=  injury), I am always on the hunt for new flats to spice up my outfits. You can wear them on any occasion and not worry about aching feets. Jewled flats can add just enough flirtyness, edginess or polish to create a contrasting or matching look. One of my favorite stores DSW has some cute bedazzled flats in a number of colors ranging from purple to classic black. Try the womens Elysee flat or the Vittadini flat for some nice options. Delias also has a super cute one as well, the Opaline flat. For a cheap yet chic edgy shoe, payless has the Dazzle flat.

Every girl loves a little glam and this adds the perfect dose to any BTS outfit. I know I'm going to be pairing it with my PacSun hermosa skinny jeans, or my nautical inspired dress that I picked up in London; its adds a bit of a sparkle to classic blue jeans or a breezy dress.

Store I'm loving-Charlotte Russe

Always a fan of more eyecatching pieces paired with basics, I'm finding that shopping at Charlotte Russe has more then supersoft tees and cute heels.  While their website is a bit tough to muddle through, don't let the stark arial text and plain black and yellow border discourage you from checking out their numerous stores. They offer fun and flirty fashion like ruffled skirts, flower embellished blouses and dangling charm necklaces in colors that are easy on the eyes. Tops have a relaxed cute vibe in a variety of shapes from slouchy oversized knit tees to fitted and embellished tanks and camis. To my delight, Charlotte Russe had a large variety of jackets, rangeing from openfaced coverups and cropped lace shrugs to fitted blazers and vests;all perfect for  updating my wardrobe for back to school. I could definatly see myself pairing the ruched sleeve blazer with a few skirts or tops to add polish and help me carry it into the fall. Dresses are feminine and funky in a variety of prints with rompers, cocktail dresses and maxi dresses. While they didn't have as much as they normally do, there was still sufficiant diversity in the skirt department with a few pencil, tulip and flirty floral styles.

Currently, there are plenty trend pieces like the shortsleeve open front lace cover, the zip front cami, moto jeggins and jersey bow handbag. There's plenty to keep me busy as back to school approaches and I hope you enjoy it as much as I will!

Blog it-let me know what your favorite store for back to school is by dropping a comment

Fall Fashion-Field of Flowers

This was a trend that was blooming into view back in the spring and its still going strong. Its a an easy breezy look that can be achieved without much effort and its perfect to enjoy during the summer and carry into the fall. Key elements are Floral print(obviously) dresses, tops and skirts in light fabrics and flowy shapes. Also, faded denim vests,  leather bags and shoes in neutral colors complete the look. Below are some places to find and enjoy the trend

1. Known for its classic style punctuated with trendy basics, American Eagle can often be looked over when hunting for fashionable finds. Never fear, they have some adorable bohemian chiffon shirts, denim jackets and floral dresses to satisfy the cool look that is oh-so-hot.

Fall Fashion-Military Chic

Back in the spring, I thought there was no  way that camo prints and canvas could be suited to the elite in fashion, as well as everyday wear. Once again, I am pleasantly surprised by the way the fashion world takes inspiration from unassuming places and puts its own twist on it. This trend is revving up again for fall with nes shapes and creative takes on the military style. Already, stores, celebs and fashion walkers alike are all stocking up on some rugged, yet sleek pieces to work this trend. Whether your style is edgy, trendy, preppy or laid back, theres going to be enough variety this season to work it any way you like. Check out some of my favorites below:

1. Always one of my favorite stores for cheap & amp;chic, Forever 21 has some gorgeous options that won't break your bank. With camo print layered skirts, trenchcoat dresses and fun graphic tees, I can't wait to get my hands on them!

2. For those who would like a little less army but want a little more classiness, check out Urban Original for some nice options. Their Arm and Dangerous vest and First Attraction top are sure to please. Their knee high boot in brown is also trendy choice.

3. Gap is also showing some nice options for those not ready to jump in full force or just want to spice up their look a little with some key pieces. A Trench Coat, for instance is a classic that no one can go wrong with-and it will outlast more than a season or two.

4.Nordstrom has taken a liking ot the trand and has shown it in pieces like their hinge side tab shorts - only 25$ and a great alternative to denim cutoffs. The silk romper, military jacket and others are excellent options as well.

The greatest part about this trend is the sheer daring with which it was created, and yet it is ridiculously easy to find a way to pull it off. Its not just doc martens and basic olive tees, it has a whole glam twist, mixing tough prints or fabric with feminine shapes or acessories. Its a neat way to amp up your style and I hope you guys have as much fun with it as I will.
